Grace and Mia. Mia and Grace. That’s the way it’s always been for these identical twin sisters. They’re always together—at least, that’s the way everyone else sees them. First off, as a teen author myself, I want to commend you for writing this book. Writing a book takes a LOT of hard work, sweat, tears, and emotions, and it is an achievement that should be recognized-- being a TEEN author is even more impressive in my opinion. But, as I was reading it, I noticed a lot of technical errors that resulted in more difficulty following along with your work.Your poetry was incredible and I loved the story from Grace's perspective. But, I didn't feel the same way with Mia's chapters. It seemed slightly choppy and I found it really hard to understand her as a character. And I must add that I felt that the ending was a bit unrealistic.
Although I loved your poetry, your choice of font made it VERY difficult to read. I found myself going back through the same lines over and over again just to make sure that I read it properly.
I'm sure that each of the characters were well planned out, but I couldn't understand them very well. They didn't seem like characters to me--more like filling the gaps of the story. It would be easier if there were a few chapters explaining their backstory or something just so that the empty gaps could be filled by the wonderful characters that I'm sure they were meant to be.
Keep writing, and I will definitely be looking out for any future novels that you write!

Did not enjoy it. It was okay.
Erin, I want to start off by saying that Half of Me was to first book that made me cry in five years. Your style of writing is truly beautiful and completely captures ones heart with the characters, having them feel emotions for people that they've only known for a 184 page work of art. Grace's chapters made me pause and truly think deeper into how not always being recognized as an individual person could cause some serious self doubt while Mia's chapters with her slightly bitter depression tied the entire story together flawlessly. I read this all in one go and I think my new way of striking up a conversation will be "have you ever read Half of Me by Erin Rosenfeld?" This was seriously awesome, and I feel honored to have been in a creative writing course with you this summer (even if I did forget you were in it most of the time).

An amazingly beautiful and poignant work by an incredibly gifted young author! Start to finish I could not put this book down. Thank you Erin Rosenfeld.
This is a wonderfully written book for a first novel! The characters come alive and the story pulls you in right from the beginning. This is a great book to give to a pre-teen or teen reader.
This book was absolutely incredible. I couldn't put it down! Erin writes with such poise and maturity beyond her years. The Grace chapters were so well thought out and masterfully placed. She thought out every word and sentence and it's exact placement. She had be feeling for both girls in two very different ways. Beautifully written! Congratulations, Erin!!
